A record number of individuals achieved the Arthritis Foundation’s highest advocacy honor in 2018 and became Platinum Ambassadors. At the2019 Advocacy Summit, March 11-12, in Washington, DC, participants will be able to connect with the 2018 cohort of 70 Platinum Ambassadors who will be recognized for their outstanding advocacy achievements on behalf of the arthritis community. Our2018 Platinum Ambassadorshail from across the United States. This year, our Platinum Ambassadors represent nearly 30 states and will be the voice of the legislative priorities important to people with arthritis. We are pleased to welcome Platinum Ambassadors from East to West, like Barrie Lynch from Maine to Gerica Coad from California. This diverse group of leaders are Empowered to Live Yes! and includes three mother-daughter Platinum Ambassador duos like Marsha Clark & Staci Penner from Kansas, Amy & Jessica Poff from Utah, and Cathy & Taylor Guerrant from Ohio. Excitingly, of our 70 Platinum Ambassadors, 18 of them represent their state as the chair of their state Advocacy Committee.
These leaders will be able to help serve as role models to our Advocacy Summit participants, connecting them with the encouragement they need to succeed on Capitol Hill and beyond! Regardless of where they’re from or who they’re traveling with, they all have one shared purpose – to continue telling their arthritis stories, advocating for legislation and policies that make health care more user friendly and affordable.
At the 2019 Advocacy Summit, participants will engage in learning that empowers them to Live Yes! and share their stories with decision makers. They will then turn their learning into action by meeting with members of Congress and their staff on Capitol Hill to teach them about the important policy priorities facing people with arthritis.The deadline to register for the Advocacy Summit is right around the corner on February 4, 2019.
