Arthritis Foundation Advocacy Results

Stellar Results for Arthritis Community Achieved at the 2016 Advocacy Summit!

They came from small towns, big towns, places you’ve never heard of before, and places you dream to visit. Places like North Newton, Kansas, which is home to Bethel College and roughly 1,700 people. And places like New York, New York, home to 8.4 million people, Broadway and Times Square. But they all had one thing in common – arthritis!

On March 14-15, 2016, more than 390 people affected by arthritis traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in ourAdvocacy Summit.

Advocacy Summit is our annual meeting where we convene people from all over the United States, teach them about issues affecting people who have arthritis and set up meetings for them and their members of Congress. It’s an opportunity for people living with arthritis to tell legislators their arthritis story and ask for support in conquering this disease.

What are the Issues?

This year’s Summit focused on two very important issues.

We also asked members of Congress to join our Congressional Arthritis Caucus. Composed of members from both the House of Representatives and the Senate, this group works to educate their fellow lawmakers about arthritis and advocate on behalf of legislation that will help those living with the disease.
